I'm sorry, it wasn't supposed to sound like protest. My Japanese is far from perfect, if I confused you I am very sorry.　I was very happy that you translated my article, and even happier that you enjoyed it. You never need to ask my permission for something like that :).

And your English is very good and very easy to understand, please don't apologize for it :).

Mr.David

At first, I must say sorry to you to translate this article without your permission.
When I found your comment in my blog, I became anxious because I assumed it contains protest.

As for indie game, I am player and not developer.
I often play foreign(Non-Japanese) indie game and introduce it to my friends or Japanese people.
However, most people give up playing a game because they do not mostly speak English.
I feel chagrined it ... and I sympathized with this article very much.

I know you can speak Japanese well, but I dare to reply in English to you.
Please forgive my poor English.

Thank you :). I'm glad you enjoyed it! You guys really made my day plugging this, it means a lot to me! With any luck, we can get some action rolling in this regard.

And I did see the Japanese translation, thank you. I sent a note to the fellow who wrote it, but I didn't get a reply just yet.

Sjors:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I hadn't heard of Gamejam before. It'll be interesting to see how the game proposals turn out.

Flash can indeed be a compatibility savior, but it introduces a few other problems that need to be taken into account as well. The first being that it is relatively slow, and the second that it is somewhat inflexible. On modern computers the first issue can often be safely ignored if the game is not too involved. The second is a bit harder to quantify, as indie developers often make a name for themselves by doing stuff that is new and interesting, and trying to shoehorn those designs into a generic framework can take a phenomenal amount of time.
